I decided I wanted to post a deliberately difficult puzzle. It's hard to do well! (See below for documentary footage of me working on it.) Nice puzzle - plenty of tough clues and unusual angles, made me laugh more than once. I have finally worked through all your puzzles on this site to date and I'm a fan. Quite a few of yours I would give 5 stars to. But the comments have always been closed until I finally got to this one.

Just one question though - I don't understand 14A. I put it into google (as one word enclosed in quotes" and all the hits point to various languages other than English.

It's GENERIC HE, like "when one uses 'he' generically, he wrongly portrays men as representative of all humanity."
